It is announced that General G. Carpenter has appointed Commissioner John Lewis to be manager of the Salvationist Publishing and Supplies Headquarters in London. The commissioner is a New Zealander by birth, having entered the Salvation Army’s work from Ashburton 46 years ago. He has served in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Great Britain. Horsham to Wanganui, Major H. Knight to Spreydon, Major and Mrs Lee to Hamilton, Major and Mrs Liddell to Napier, Major and Mrs Lord to Lower Hutt, Captain and Mrs Spillett to Ashburton, Captain and Mrs Simpson to Timaru. Russell Hayden, for many years William Boyd’s constant companion, has retired from the Hopalong Cassidy series of pictures. His place will be taken by a screen newcomer, Brad King.
