It is announced that General G. Carpenter has appointed Commissioner John Lewis to be manager of the Salvationist Publishing and Supplies Headquarters in London. The commissioner is a New Zealander by birth, having entered the Salvation Army’s work from Ashburton 46 years ago. He has served in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Great Britain. Officers in New Zealand who have changed appointments this month include the following: Major and Mrs Bartlett, to Dunedin city, Major and Mrs Martin Brown to Invercargill, Major and Mrs Paul Eichler to Onehunga, Major Ada Elliott to St Albans, Major S. Horsham to Wanganui, Major H. Knight to Spreydon, Major and Mrs Lee to Hamilton, Major and Mrs Liddell to Napier, Major and Mrs Lord to Lower Hutt, Captain and Mrs Spillett to Ashburton, Captain and Mrs Simpson to Timaru. Russell Hayden, for many years William Boyd’s constant companion, has retired from the Hopalong Cassidy series of pictures. His place will be taken by a screen newcomer, Brad King.
