GREYTOWN

HOME GUARD PRESENTATION TO PADRE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Eoth units of the Greytown Home Guard' paraded at the Crown Theatre on Wednesday evening and the opportunity was taken to make a presentation to the unit padre, the Rev. H. Eloomfield, who is retiring. The Battalion Commander, Major H. G. Carter, expressed the hope that in a very short while Mr Bloomfield’s health would improve. He regretted very much that they were losing one who had taken such an active interest in the unit. The Commander of the Headquarters Company, Mr A. G. Nisbet, expressed on behalf of his unit, the hope that Mr Bloomfield would be able to visit them occasionally. The Commander of A Company, Mr S. C. Shedden, on behalf of all the members, presented Mr Bloomfield with a chiming clock suitably inscribed and extended good wishes to him in his retirement. On rising to reply Mr Bloomfield was greeted with musical honours and cheers. He stated that the honour done him made him feel proud to have been associated with the unit. He would look back with pleasure on his happy association with the Home Guard and the friends he had made. TRUST LANDS TRUST MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Greytown Trust was held last night, there being present Messrs F. Dennes (chairman), W. Grigg, W. H. Day, H. G. Carter, H. J. Nightingale, A. H. York. Mr W. W. Kidd forwarded a certificate surrendering the lease of a section. Mr F. J. Brooks was appointed to carry out the work of renewing the fence on section 27. Messrs Thompson and Tate notified that the Proclamation taking lands for hospital purposes had been gazetted on the 16th ultimo. The area to be taken is 7| acres and the price is to be fixed by agreement.
