NAZIS IN FRANCE

TAKING OVER PRIVATE BUSINESSES METHODS OF PLUNDER EXPLOITATION. HOPES OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 21. The “Daily Telegraph’s’ ’Lisbon correspondent says that despite promises of “generous treatment” Frenchmen are increasingly realising that Germany is planning the permanent domination and exploitation of France. Germans not only control the industries in the occupied zone but are taking over private businesses for the enrichment of individual Germans, who are buying houses in Paris and elsewhere and settling down to permanent residence. Much rivalry is evident between the nominees of Goebbels, Goering and the Nazi Ambassador, Abetz. The Germans, who control all banking, simply call in overdrafts, whereupon, if the firm is unable to pay up. a German nominee provides the capital and acquires the business. Ironically the Germans are using French money paid for the occupation to buy French businesses.
