The Now Zealand Army team beat West of England by 13 points to 8. The ■Sunday Times” says McLean was me outstanding forward in a strong pack. He converted two tries and kicked a penalty goal for New Zealand. The New Zealanders did nearly all the attacking in the early stages and narrowly missed scoring on several occasions. West of England rallied but the New Zealanders combined well and showed sneed and cleverness, with Tindill and Neighbours opening up skilfully. O’Hearn got the New Zealanders’ first try. McLean converted. McClean added a second try from a forward rush and then converted it himself. West of England improved in the second half but the New Zealanders, who had been defending strongly took up the attack again and McLean kicked a penalty goal.
