Winsome Lu recorded a win in the Stratford Handicap at the Stratford Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday, while the Budge Memorial was won by Gold Bridge. Sword Stick was first home in the Teschemaker Handicap atf the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Washdyke, while Chirp was too good for the rest of the field in the Flying Handicap. The steeplechase at the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty Hunt Club’s meeting at Rotorua went to an outsider in Honi. t .

The track was in good order and there was a large attendance. There was a number of scratchings, but large fields were left in most of the events. The totalisator turnover on the day was £22,228 10s, compared with £lB,438 at the last hunt meeting, an increase of £3790 10s.
