MAURICEVILLE WEST
SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the Mauriceville Hall when the settlers of the surrounding districts entertained Privates D. Smith, McLelland, J. Pickering. T. Mortensen and Elliott al a social. The hall was tastefully decorated. and the music for the dancing was supplied by Te Tau's orchestra. Extras were played by Mr J. Milner and Messrs D. Johansen and H. Mortensen were M.’sC. On behalf of the settlers of the respective districts represented, Messrs A. Forsberg. E. W. Cheetham, C. R. Judd and A. Thorby made presentations to the soldiers. Private P. Mortensen replying on their behalf. Supper was provided by the ladies who were in charge of Mrs C. Johansen. Miss R. Mortensen and G. Osborne were the winners of a noveltj’ dance. A most enjoyable gathering was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." and "God Save the King.” Personal Items. Mrs A. D. Kerr and' family, Rangikura. spent Easter with Mrs Kerr's mother, Mrs J. Mortensen. Mrs J. Mortensen has left on a short visit to Wellington. Mrs C. Johansen is visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs N. Stace. Wellington, spent the Easter with Mr and Mrs G. Mcßae. Mrs T. Bray and her son Ronald, Wellington, spent the holidays with Mr and Mrs C. Johansen.
