CURRENT TOPICS FROM STABLE AND COURSE Final Day of Southland Meeting MONA’S SONG WINS PRINCIPAL RACE ' FINAL HANDICAP GOES TO SPARKLE' (BY “CARBINE.”) Mona’s Song scored a well deserved win in the Southland Handicap on the final day of the Southland meeting yesterday. Doubleack was sent out a strong favourite but he had no chance with Mona’s Song, who came right away to beat him by a length and a half. Chirp was backed down to a short price in the Final Handicap, but she had no chance with Sparkle, who ran home the easiest winner of the meeting. Sparkle returned almost double figures on the win machine. '
