WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

UPPER PLAIN MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Upper Plain Women’s Institute was hold recently. Mrs G. Dagg presided. There was a very good attendance of members. The roll call was "What I should like to do on Christmas Day.” Nearly everyone preferred to stay at home and rest. A competition for a miniature drawing of the Institute Banner, to be finished in ten minutes, was won by Mrs Steer. The president was the recipient of a present from Miss Cohen in appreciation of her kindness during the year. The competitions were won as follows: —Best bloom. Miss L. Payne 1. Mrs C. R. Jones 2. Twelve, pods of green peas, Mrs W. Taplin 1. Mrs E. Taplin 2. Best plate of sweets. Mrs Steer 1, Miss Payne 2. The hostesses were Mrs Steer and the Misses MacKenzie and Cohen.
