SPORTS, RACING AND BOWLING
Holiday attractions in the Wairarapa on Monday, New Year’s Day, include the Caledonian Society’s Sports at the Masterton Park Oval, the second day of the Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting at Tauherenikau and the Wairarapa Centre's bowling tournament on the Masterton green. A large attendance is expected to be present at the Caledonian Sports. No effort has been spared to make this year’s gathering a most enjoyable, and entertaining one. Splendid entries have been received for the various events, including those from competitors from Wellington, Nelson, Auckland, Feilding, Petone, Palmerston North and Napier. The sports are timed to start at 12.30 p.m. The bowling tournament will be continued on Tuesday.
