THE SECOND ECHELON
TO BE MOBILISED ON JANUARY 12. MEN STILL BEING RECRUITED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. December 29. The second echelon of the Special Miltiary Force is to be mobilised in all camps throughout New Zealand on January 12. Officers posted to the echelon have been in camp since early November, and prospective non-com-missioned officers began their training at the beginning of November. It is stated that all the men concerned in the mobilisation of the second echelon will be notified individually in ample time for them to report on January 12. Men are still being recruited for this detachment and to provide a nucleus for the third, and there are vacancies in practically all units. MORE WAIRARAPA ENLISTMENTS. DISTRICT’S GOOD RECORD. A steady stream of recruits are enlisting in the Wairarapa for overseas service, seven enlistments being made yesterday. Wairarapa has. now established a very fine record qf enlistments per capita as compared with any town or district in New Zealand. The following men enlisted yesterday: Messrs W. G. Wilson (Carterton); T. Harnett, P. T. O'Neill (Masterton); L. N. Tomlin (Holmwood), T. H. Burnard (Martinborough); R. A. Stuart and Te Rang! Kario (Featherston).
