HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES MOTION NOT SUPPORTED. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council, Councillor Bailey moved: "That the present system of heavy traffic license fees expenditure be discontinued and that such fees in future be allocated between Ridings on the basis of mileage of Riding roads." A suggestion was put forward at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council by the chairman that the walls bo painted at a cost of £l5. A councillor suggested it was an opportunity for the staff to earn a wet day’s wages. Il was left in the engineer’s hands to get the material and use the council’s labour. VALUATIONS REDUCTIONS ACCEPTED. It was decided at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council to accept the reductions in valuations. MINIATURE RIFLES BYRNE SHIELD FIXTURES. The Bush Miniature Rifle Association’s Byrne Shield competition will conclude this week. The draw for the matches is as under:— Makomako v Mangamutu, at Makomako; Mangatainoka v Eketahuna, at Mangatainoka; Ballance v Konini, at Ballance; Hukanui a bye.
