CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING W. G. RAE WINS 21 YARD EVENT. 28 YARD MATCH TN PROGRESS. Scoring 19 birds out of the possible 21, W. G. Rao. Tauranga and J. Syme Dannevirke. tied in the North Island 21 yard Championship al To Orc Orc Masterton yesterday. In the shoot-off Rao emerged the winner. Syme missing his twelfth bird. Jim McKenzie iMasterion), with 18 birds, was third. Conditions were anything but idea! and in the circumstances the shooting was of a high standard. The trophies won were presented at the conclusion of the day by the president of the Masterton Gun Club, Mr R. J. King.
Mr Rae is president of the recently formed Tauranga Gun Club, and his victory will, no doubt, help to popularise clay bird shooting in.that area. Today the North Island 28 yard Championship is being shot. This event provides for 21 birds with a 28 yard rise and a 35 yards boundary. At the end of the fifth round 12 of the 26 entries had shot all birds.
Shooting 20 birds out of the 21, W. G. Rae (Tauranga Gun Club) won the championship.
