Mrs J. Mcßae* Weraite, will leave at the weekend on a visit to Australia. Mrs Horner, Essex Street, Masterton, is staying with her daughter, Mrs C. Meredith, Ihuraua. Mrs J. H. Tatham, Homewood, has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs K. H. Bamford, Konini. Miss J. Beetham and Miss M. Maunsell, Masterton, are visitors to Wellington. Mrs D. E. Parton, Christchurch and Mrs Inns, Wellington, are staying with Miss Daniell, “Mathon Lodge.” Mrs E. A. Drake and Miss M. Drake, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs J. W. Greaves, Pahiatua. Mr and Mrs H. W. Robinson, Dixon Street, Masterton, who have been on a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach, have returned home. ■

Miss J. Brash, of the Wellington Education Board’s relieving staff, has been appointed assistant at the Martinborouuh School. MisS E. Robieson, rownall Street, Masterton is spending a week in Wellington before leaving by the Awatea for a few months’ holiday in Sydney.

The death occurred at Palmerston North yesterday of Mrs Maud Elizabeth Monrad, wife of Mr Oscar Monrad, at the age of 64 years. The late Mrs Monrad was a daughter- of the late Mr and Mrs Alfred Matthews, of Waiorongomai, Featherston. At Pahiatua on Sunday the death occurred of Miss Marion Reese, at the age of 89 years. She had resided in Pahiatua for 52 years. For over 50 years she was engaged in teaching in private and public schools and for some years conducted a private school in Pahiatua.
