TALK OF RESIGNATION
JAPANESE AMBASSADORS IN BERLIN & ROME OBJECTION TO REFUSAL OF COMMITMENTS. “USEFULNESS HAS ENDED." By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. LONDON, May 26. The British United Press correspondent in Tokio has been reliably informed that the Japanese ambassadors in Berlin and Rome have declined to convey to the axis Governments Japan’s decision to avoid definite commitments in Europe. The ambassadors are reported to have tendered their resignations on the ground that their usefulness has ended. The Prime Minister, Baron Hiranuma, and the Foreign Minister, Mr Arita, are attempting to dissuade them because Mr Arita’s position might be affected. OFFICIAL DENIALS RESIGNATIONS NOT OFFERED. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) BERLIN, May 26. The Japanese Embassy denies that the Ambassador has offered his resignation. Japanese circles in Rome issue a similar denial.
