The Institute of Economic Investigation reports that the number of employed has increased from 20,000,000 to 213,000,000. Working hours are increasing generally, but the quality and the quantity of products have declined. Grain, potato and beetroot crops are good, but the fruit crop is disastrous and transport is overburdened. Foreign markets are restricted and many industries have exceeded the optimum exploitability.
