TRADE RELATIONS
THE BRITISH DISCUSSIONS WITH GERMANV RESUMPTION POSSIBLE. WHEN EUROPEAN TENSION ABATES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. May 9. The President of the Board of Trade, Mr Oliver Stanley, was asked in the House of Commons today if, in view of Herl- Hitler's declaration that he desires a peaceful evolution of European tension, he was proposing a resumption of the trade discussions with Germany. Mr Stanley replied that the trade discussions had to be interrupted as a result of European tension produced by Germany's annexation of Bohemia and Moravia. “Whenever this tension abates, I shall be only too glad to see the discussions resumed with a view to improving trade relations between Britain'and Germany.” Answering a further question regarding the trade negotiations with Rumania, Mr Stanley said that, as the negotiations were still in progress, he was not in a position to make a statement, but the matter was being expedited as far as possible and he hoped that a statement would be possible shortly.
