TRAMPING
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING. INCREASED INTEREST SHOWN IN- ACTIVITIES. To act as a means of helping the many people interested in tramping or intending doing so this year, the Wairarapa Tramping Club, at a meeting last night, decided to waive the club subscription for the 1938-39 season and to credit all members who had paid with membership for the 1939-40 season. Mr B. lorns, in moving a motion to this effect, said that as the club was in a reasonably good financial position and the expenditure for this season would be practically nil it would be a great help if subscriptions were waived, as this would especially benefit the large number of new members. In making a presentation to the club’s secretary, Mr W. Jack, who shortly takes up new duties in Whangarei Mr lorns expressed the wish of all club members when he said that he hoped Mr Jack would carry away with him exceedingly happy memories of his activities in Masterton. Mr Jack suitably replied. On the motion of Mrs West, seconded' by Mr lorns, Miss A. Mannell was appointed secretary. A committee is being set up to plan a programme for this season and activities will commence in earnest shortly after the Easter Holidays. Any person considering adopting this wonderful outdoor life for the winter months will receive all particulars from the Secretary, c/o Logan and Whiteman, Solicitors, Perry Street, or from Mr B. lorns, the club president, Bunny Street. New members elected were Mrs I. Wilkinson, Messrs E. Wilson, N. Jenkins, G. C. Gaze and W. Beresford.
