ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS

RECEPTION TO GRAND MASTER. GATHERING IN WELLINGTON. The 1.0.0. F. Hall, Wellington, was crowded the other evening when a reception was accorded the Grand Master of New Zealand, Bro. G. F. Rudkin, by the lodges of the Wellington district. Members representative of all the lodges in the district, including a large contingent from the Otaki lodges, the Wairarapa and Hutt Valley districts, were present. Bro. E. D. Wallis, D.D.G.M., in welcoming the Grand Master on behalf of the lodges, expressed pleasure that a member of the district who had done so much for Odd Fellowship in the district and throughout New Zealand, had at last been selected to fill the highest office in the jurisdiction. Sister N. Torkington, L.D.D.G.M., extended a welcome on behalf of the members of the Rebekah branch; Bro. W. M. Heckler, D.D.G.M., Wairarapa; Bro. A. J. Bargh, P.D.D.G.M., Hutt Valley; Bro. J. D. Cooksley, G.L. representative, on behalf of the lodges in the Nelson district. ’ The Grand Master, in thanked members for the welcome extended to him. He mentioned that the membership had increased considerably during the past two years, and that thanks to excellent investment, the finances of the society were in a very satisfactory condition, the society comparing more than favourably with other financial institutions. A welcome was also given to Bro. F. E. Newbold, Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of. New Zealand. During the evening the Grand Master installed into their respective offices the D.D.G.M. and L.D.D.G.M., Bro. A. J. Holding and Sister A. E. McKinnon. The Grand Master presented P.D.D.G.M. jewels to Bro. Wallis •and Sister Torkington on behalf of the' lodges of the district.
