MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs A. Forsberg presided over a fair attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute held in the Mauriceville West Hall. The Ode to Friendship was sang and the Inspiration read. Mrs Forsberg extended a welcome to the visitors, Miss Campbell and Mrs McDougall, of Auckland. Delegates for the Wairarapa Federation meeting to be held in Masterton on April 19 will be Mrs F. Pain and Mrs O. Nicolason. A letter was read inviting members to attend Pan Pacific Conference to be held in January, 1940, in Wellington. To celebrate the fourth birthday of the Women’s Institute a dance will be held in West Hall on April 20.. Mrs Gregory gave an interesting talk on “Bath,” England’s famous watering place A competition for the best bloom resulted: Miss R. Mortenson, 1; Mrs H. Freeman, 2. Mrs H. Freeman gave a demonstration of floral work in sand. This was watched with much interest. Folk dancing lead by Mrs Pain was much enjoyed. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Gregory and Mrs Freeman. Personals. The friends of Mr J. McGovern will regret to hear he is confined to his bed. Miss N. Neilson, who underwent an operation in the public hospital, is making good recovery. Miss N. Booker, Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs H. Neilson. Mr and Mrs F. Scherf and family are spending a holiday at Waikanae Beach. Tennis Dance. A good night’s enjoyment is promised those that attend the tennis day to be held on Easter Saturday. Te Tau’s Orchestra will supply the music. The committee are working hard to make this dance a success.
