Mr Quilliam was well known throughout Taranaki, said the Minister, as a member of the legal firm of Govett and Quilliam, of New Plymouth, one of the oldest-established firms of legal practitioners. It is understood that the temporary judge will assist the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in hearing the civil cases in Wellington which have been postponed because a judge to hear them has not been available. Fixtures are to be made on Monday afternoon. The Chief Justice will not be back from Hamilton until the following Monday.
