Attack by a Ferret on a Child.
Further information is to hand through the Post correspondent, of the attack oo an infant by a ferret. It appear* that Mrs. Dobbs of Herbert, was busy in tbs front room of "her house with ordinary domestic duties, while her baby, seven months old, lay on the rug on the floor beside her. There were no other children in the room and the mother, having occasion to ge out to tha clothes line, left the baby on the floor. She had hardly gone ten yards from the door when she was alarmed at hearing the child screaming, and on hastening back to the room* horrible sight presented itself. A ferret be* longing to Mr Dobbt had ita cage, and had attacked the child. The ferret which had a litter about three weeks old was tearing with teeth and daws at the right eye of the infant, whom face wasn.beaming with blood. Mr* Dobbs drove the animal off, and carried the victim to Dr lonngs, who ptononnoed the eye hopelessly destroy so. The animal had escaped from a cage not far from the house.
