Lonnotf, D«W»ber 18. The wheat market shows a strong rising tendency in all positions. Australian shipments on the spot are quoted at 38s, but there is only a limited demand. A thousand quarters of January and February shipments have been sold at 36s 9d. Messrs Bonmpbrey & Co., corn merchants, of Liverpool, have failed, with liabilities amounting to £55,000. Australian beef tallow has fallen Is, mutton tallow being quoted at 29s and beef tallow at 24s 6d. New Zealand mutton shows a rise of from Jd to id per lb, and is now selling at from 4£d to 4id on the Smithfield market. December 19. Irish juries are acquitting prisoners in grave cases, fearing the vengeance of the Land League. All the Press, including those papers favorable to Mr Gladstone support the Irish policy of the Government. December 20.
