Featherston Road Board.

This Board met ou Saturday at Feathendou. Present—Messrs Johu Tully (Chairman), A. Matthews, I) McDougal, and F. Monckton, The minutes of the former meeting w ere read and confirmed. Accounts to the amount of £225 were passed for payment. CoRRESroSDEXtX Outward correspondence was read by the Clerk as follows ;

To Mr King, re deviation of road at Waihenga. To Beard and Co-, solicitors, re documents and papers. To J. Wilkinson, re fencing land at Western Lake Block, and ottering to allow £35 compensation for fencing, &e. To E. Pearce, trustee in Wall’s estate, stating there is no understanding that the new road is to be in place of the one already laid off. To Mr JOlliver, late poundkeeper, Waihenga, requesting that he return keys to overseer. To Mr D. Cameron, re his application for money to be spent ou the Lower Valley road. To Air W. C. Buchanan, re planting of willows ou bank of Waiohiue, near his property To Colonial Treasurer, re loans to Board under new Act, and taking preliminary steps to secure £2OOO for Kahautara bridge, and £SOO to be spent ou now disconnected roads in No. 5 Ward. To J. Sperry, re rolls not then received eoncorning Native lauds.

Inwards—From Public Works Office re laud taken under Public Works Act (Stouey Creek), and requiring proclamation to be advertised m the St.i.ndaiu). From Deputy Commissioner of Lands, announcing that the revision of Native Lauds’ roll has been completed. From Secretary to Treasury, re loans. From Messrs Buckeridge and Reardon, asking for transfer of contract to C. Marsh. Granted. From Air Alex McLeod, asking for a road to be laid oft' in No. 7 Ward, so as to connect with the jKiiut where the Marfinborough-Pahaua road st’ ikes the river. From Mr King (surveyor), forwarding plans, &c., of proposed deviation of rord at Waihenga. From H. Stettort, offering to undertake the duties of ranger to the :Road Board. From Mr W. E. Bidwill regretting his unavoidable absence, and suggesting that some work be done down Kahautara way, near Mr McMaster’s estate.

McLeod’s Road

It wan resolved that when Mr J. Cameron is prepared to convey the laud, the Board will get the road required laid off.

It was resolved to give the present ranger a mouth’s notice, and to advertise for applications for the office.

It was resolved to advertise for certain works, and that Messrs Bidwill, Matthews and Moucktou meet in a fortnight from date to open tenders, &c. Mr Matthews asked for about 10 chains of metalling to be done in his Ward. Granted. The Treasurer's Report.

The Treasurer reported as follows ;

1 have to report the amount due to the credit of general fund at £740 11s, and imprest account at £271 7s sd. The final payment on account of Moroa imprest has been received since last meeting, and it will be for the Board to consider the advisability of applying for the inscription of debentures issued under the “ Roads aud Bridges Construction Act,” so that it may take effect as from the Ist May next, (the annual due date of debentures.) The total amount of rates received to date is £1946 13s Bd, leaving a balance outstanding of £176 Os 7d. Tue financial position of each Ward is as follows, against which today’s payments have to be placed ; —No. 1, credit. £B4 9s lid ; No. 2, £l4O 11s lOd ; No. 3, £IOB 8s 3d, (including £3B 13s lOd Cross’J Creek Road); No. 4, £sl 11s lid; No. 5, £35 11s 9d; No. 6, £l3B 9s 8d ; No. 7, £6O 19s sd; No 8, £307 18s sd.
