Proposal Jubilee Commemoration.

The Prince of Wales proposes to establish an Imperial Institute under the permanent presidency of the Heir Apparent. He considers this would form a singularly appropriate memorial of the Queen's Jubilee, brsi hj s stimulating emigration, expanding trade, and drawing closer the bonds which bind together the oompsneut parts of the British Empire. His Royal Highness has telegraphed to His Excellency Sir Wm. Jervois on the subject, asking whether the New Zealand Government are prepared to assist. His Excellency the Go? ernor has replied : "My Government heartily thank your Royal Highness lor so gratifying a proposal as that of permanently associating the colonies with tha celebration of the Queents Jubilee by the formation of an Institution to endnringly record their progress. My Government will join the Government ol neighbouring colonies in taking the steps necessary to giva effect to the proposal.”
