Further Rise in Price of Wool.
Melbourne, September 8.
Private telegrams received in Melbourne report that tbe London-colonial wool sales opened yesterday to an unusually large attendance of Home and foreign buyers. The market was active at an advance of from 15 per cent to 30 per cent on tbe closing prices of last sales. The total quantity available fur the present series is 265,000 bales, of which 210,000 bales are Australian wools. London, September 7.
The third series of the colonial wool sales opened to-day before a large attendance of buyers. The catalogue comprised 13,000 bales, for which there was a brisk competition, the prices ranged from one half penny to twopence higher than at the close of last gales. Greasy showed an advance of one peony to three halfpence ; scoured, twopence ; coarse greasy crossbred, one halfpenny to one penny ; fine greasy crossbreds, one penny to three haf pence.
