To the KdiUir of the Standard
Sir. - 1 was glad toaee y-nr local the oilier day re the Horticultural Society. It seems to me a gre.il pity to delay hiding 'he annual meeting each year until the spring. It five* the committee no lime to rectify mistakes of former shows or to canvas tor >pceisl p /-ee, Ac., and ii the society is owing mntu j to anyone it is intituling huuships on rose peop o. More than this, 1 lion the hymve provide for the holding of tlieaii"'! ,1 me ig in April of each year. As no'sl ol om hj -Img men arc on the committee, I hope limy will sea into this matter. If 1 re menu er lightly thete were about seventy exhibitors at the last show, it is therefore evident that the public are interested in the society and will support it. All that ia who led is that officers should take the same interest in ns atl.iir* throughout the year as they do on show days. Not having au autumn show this last season they ought to be Ireu Itpui debt. This should he an additional teasou lot getting to work at ones and devise ways and means so that they can keep IrfiC ♦tom debt in the future, I am, Aw«, BnA.
