Concert at Carterton

The Lyceum Hall was crowded last Monday evening on the occasion of the first sixpenny concert held in that town. The concert was opened with the piano duet “ Tampa,” by Mrs Seed and Mr Wilson. Mr McFailane was encored for his song, “ Gold, Gold.” Miss Searle gave a recitation “ In the Children’s Hospital,” and was dressed as a nurse. Mr Proctor sang “ The Harbor Lights.” and Mr Stansfield followed with “ A Free Lance am I.” A comic song in character, " There’ll be no Fun to night,” by Mr G. Parker was loudly encored. Mr Gayfer sang, “ Farewell; my Gentle Mary,” and then Mr Connell gave a Dutch recitation, '• Go Avay Maggie Miller,” and was encored. Mrs Seed played a brilliant piano solo, which was followed by Mr Dellar with " The Sexton.” Mrs Seed sang “ The Children’s Kingdom.” and was encored. Mr Stansfield sang “ Stranded." Mr L. Wilson’s Yankee reading, •• Peck’s Bad Boy,” was much enjoyed. Miss Searle for her song “ Granny,” received an encore. Mr MoFarlane gave the ” Three Jolly Britains.” Mr Connell concluded with the song 11 Schneider, how yer vas.”
