Public Works Estimates.

Looking over the Public Works Estimates we notice the 'following items set down for actual expenditure this year. For the NapierFalmerston line (through the Manawatu Gorge) L 40.000 is set down, and a like sum for the Wellington-Woodville extension. For police stations in the Wellington district L6OO is set down, and L4OO lor the Wellington Lunatic Asylum, but also LIOOO for a new asylum at Porirua, and LoOOli for the new Government printing office in Wellington, and L4OOO for the Mount Cook prison. The amount required to be authorised for roads to open up lauds before sale in the Wellington district is stated as L 12.958 for works begun, and L 17.550 for new works.
