The Waiohine River Board.

To the Editor of the Standard. Sib, —In your last issue you gave a brief report of a special meeting of this Board, held on the 4th lust., but no account of the usual monthly meeting held on the Ist inst., nor any particulars of the progress of repairs now being made in the breach caused by a recent flood. The purport of this “ special ” meeting and its “special ” announcement to the public in a cunningly worded manner, is specially obvious. It is to score a point, or in other words to take the wind out of my sails before being unfurled to a Wellington Jury. It was agreed with the worthy Chairman of the Board two months ago, that when the boundary would be defined by survey, any timber cut by men working for me and on my ground belonging to the Board would be returned and vice versa; accordingly iu fulfilment of this understanding last week, 31st nit, Mr Wyett gave me permission to remove some of my timber which is now on the Board's Reserve. In tbe “special ” report furnished to you, Sir, there is no regret expressed for the conduct of an officious member, who, on the 6th of April last, put his ear mark on timber of mine on my land ; nor is it slated that they intend to refund some tithe money demanded from H Morris for firewood cut on my land. I may say that I had a special letter from the Board asking for assistance by way of subscription to defray the expense of survey of the Board’s Reserve. In justice sir, I think you will allow me a space for this “ special ’’ letter. I am, <feo., J. D. Heaoeety. Greytown, June 9th, 1886.
