Land Grants to Former Members of the Colonial Forces.
Scattered throughout the Colony there are a number of men who have served faithfully in the Colonial Forces and who have an equitable, if not a strictly legal, claim—to be awarded grants of land. The subject has been mooted lately in Parliament, and it was contended that jnst claims of this kind should not be absolutely barred becanse they had not been presented before a given date. We believe that the Government feel disposed to reopen the question, and trust that justice will be done to a large number of deserving men who have served the colony well and faithfully in troublous times daring the past.
