Featherston School Picnic.

A most successful picnic in connection with the Featherston Wesleyan Church was held in Mr Yule’s paddock, Kaiwaiwai, yesterday. It is estimated that about 175 children were present, with a number of parents and friends. Through the kindness of. Mr W. Bart, who is ever to the front *u these matters, many of the children were conveyed to and from the town to the ground by him in his own conveyances. The Bev J Ward, with Mrs John Cundy and Miss Medley, who were the committee of management, carried out their onerous duties with eminent success, and many lady members ol the Church rendered valuable assistance. Mr Bart supplied the refreshments in bis usual liberal manner, which lor quality and abundance was all that could be desired. Many games were indulged in during the day, and prizee given to the successful competitors. Alter tea the Bev Mr Ward with an appropriate address, distributed some handsome book prizes to the scholars who had earned them at Sunday School, and pretty cards to the unsuccessful scholars. The day was (remarkably fine and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Messrs Murray Jackson, Yule, Willis, Burt, Spackman, Uilllier Jand others rendered valuable help. Some nice singing much enlivened the proceedings. There were a number of iriends present from Greytown and Carterton. The party dispersed about 6 p.m., and everything passed off without a hiteb.
