A special meeting of the Conned waa baldlast night to receive th* estimated receipts and expenditure tor the ensuing year 1884-7. The Councillors precant were Ora Yarnham (in the chair), Cotter, Armatrong, Trotter, and Humphries. Cr Cotter proposed that the propoeti sstima'e be adopted. Cr Trotter proposed as an amendment that a rate of lOd in the t bo attack.
Cr Armstrong aaeondad. He, however, would like to know whether • rate ol lOd in the £ would be eaffloieot. The clerk reed the Act. The amendment wae lost. The resolution wae carried. It was resolved that a rate ot one shilling be struck, at proposed iu the estimate. The details of the estimate are te be found in another column.
