Gardening Notes.
In a recent number of the Gardener*’ Chronicle I find the following Last veer I was induced to try an eiperiment on chry. santhemim growing, and for thi* purpose purchased one pound of sulphate, which I bottled and corked, as the ammonia evaporates rapidly. I then selected four plants from my collection, put them by themselves, and gave them a teaspooofnl of ammonia in a gallon of water twice a week. In a fortnight's time the result was moet striking, for though I watered the others with liquid cow manure, they looked lean when compared with the ammonia watered plants—wboae lessee turned to a very dark green, which they ear. ried to the edge of the pote kill the flowers w?re out. As s matter of course the flower* were splendid. I have also tried it oo atrawberries with the same aatiafaotory result, ths crop being nearly double tbat of others. It in very powerful, and requires to be naed with caution," The value ol artificial manure et chemicals is sot studied as it should be. It would be well if it *as better uodemooi and prsotigefl. Bra.
