Customs Revenue.
The November Customs /eturns have just been made public. It appears that the amount collected in the Colony last month in Customs duties was L 100,619 12s 2d, or nearly L 19.000 below the Colonial Treasurer’s estimate of a mouth’s collection. At the end of October the collections for the seven months then elapsed a surplus over the Treasurer’s estimates for that period was shown of L 17.653. Now, lor the eight months ending with November, a deficit of L 866 11s 3d is shown. The principal collections are —Auckland, L 24,959 Is 9d; Wellington, L 17.561 5s lOd ; Dunedin, L 22.809 13e lOd ; and Lyttelton and Christchurch, L 13.716 Os 9d.
