Who is She?
A -.r.ea: wit used to ask the question, whc-u a friend w.,uld teil him about some scandalous diificuity into which Le had become inv. ived, •• Who is she—Who is the woman luit is Low the trouble atisea in the case ct Mr Sydney Kimmo Muir, who on Fiiday w.-.s am-stid on a charge of larceny. at the in.-;nice of the Hon T. A. Buckley. Muir is charged wiu stealing two rings, a photograph ana a Loik, from tite home of Mr BucKiey. Oniy one ring was found in ids possession, and Muir asserts that lie picked it up on the ground, snowed it to Mrs Buckley, nud asked her who i, belonged to ? The lady replied " that it belonged to Mr Buckley,” so Muir said he would keep it till Mi Buckley assed for it. All this is very charming, and some timpie f'dks may LeiFve Muir’s slot?. But Muir—iiimseif a mirricd man—had no business to be picking up a ring and keeping it, evsu though a pretty tnarti. u lady tacitly c«nte..u- ( to Bis doing so, while the husband of tne iaov in question naturally dots not like this sort of thing, and he has had Muir app.theiided on a charge of theft. If Sydney Nuncio Muir gets into trouble over this ting In.-ines-, he ms hims-If to blame. He had * u.-iness to be picking up a ring which didn’t belong to him, and then telling an .'tiier man a wife that lie was going to keep thearn.-ie Muir is out on bail, but Be has to apn.ar before the Reeident Magistrate at Wfciuugt. n to-morrow (Tuesday), to answer the charge of larceny. To make out his defence, Muir will require to put Mrs Buckley into the witness br.s. Altogether, the affair assumes a very painful aspect, ami, as usual in all social scandals, there is a woman at the bottom of the whole business.
