DEATH OF OSMAN DIGNA. KILLED IN BATTLE BY THE ABYSSINIANS. London, October 6. The frozen meat by the s.s, Tuiuui is Belling at 4|d per !b. The hop crop ia not equal to last year in quality. Choicest qualities are scarce, and are being held for better prices. Brewers are using old stocks. American hops ate in good demand. Continental crops are damaged. The British wheat crop has averaged 29 i bushels per acre. France, Buasia, Spain, and Italy have smaller harvests than usual. Germany, Hungary, Turkey, Eoumania, and Belgium have very large yields, whilst the American ciop is much smaller, and Canadian slightly larga than was expected. Eusaia, America and England have warehoused heavily. October 7. A division of the Servian Army has been instructed to proceed to the fron.i r, and is now marching in that direction. The tenders for the New South Wales loan of £5,500,000 at 34 per cent were opened today, when the amount tendered for was found to reach nearly £14,000,000. Tenderers at £9’ lls 6d will receive 26 per cent of their application above that in full. Paris, October 6. Eiota took place last night outside the publishing offices of Le Gaulois, which was illuminated in honor of the resuit of the elections. The police, however, soon dispersed the crowd. The latest returns of the French elections give the number of Conservative Deputies as 165, and the republicans 141. The number of ballotages for the Electoral College of the Senate is very large, being fully 200. Cairo, October 7. Farther details to hand with regard to the recent encounter between the Abyssinian forces under Eas Aloulah and the Hadendowa Arabs show that the Abyssinians gained a complete victory, carrying by assault a strongly entrenched position, and killing fu’ly 3000 Arabs, amongst whom was Osman Digna, whose body was identified after the engagement. The Abyssinians lost a lai;e number of men. Sydney, October 7. The names of the members of the bi.w Ministry were made known this afternoon, and are as followsMr Dibbs, Sir Patrick Jennings, Messrs Farnell, Abbott, Tricke;t, Badgery, Wright, See, and Want. The New South Wales Parliament v. is formally dissolved this afternoon, and the writs for the general elections have been ( issued. It is understood that Mr Dibbs and Sir Patrick Jennings will exchange portfolios, Mr Dibbs retaining the Premiership. Mr Farr oil will be appointed Vice-President of the Executive Council, and Mr Eeid or Mr Slatti ry : will be made Minister of Justice.
