The Opposition in the House have been talking of tabling a “No Conlidonco ” motion on Monday (this day) but it is not quite certain they will do so. The supporters of this proposal roly on carrying it, but the Government protest that it would bo defeated. It is stated that the Canterbury members are being bribed into supporting the Government by a pledge that the East and West Coast Hail way will be constructed. Mr Richardson is to make his Public Works Statement on Thursday or Friday, should there be no hostile movement on the part of the Opposition. It is rumoured that Sir F. Whitaker purposes introducing into the Legislative Council a Bill providing for the reconstitution of that body, by rendering it elective on the Haro system of representation.
