Opening of the Session.

The session of Parliament will bo formally opened to-morrow (Thursday), by His Excellenoy Sir W. Jervois, who will deliver the usual Speech from tha Throne. It is anticipated that His Excellency’s Speech will indicate the chief points of the policy, to be brought down by the Ministry. The appointment of the usual sessional Committee will probably bo made on Friday, and the House will then likely adjourn till Tnesdry. It is understood that Mr Pearson will move the Address in Reply to the Governor’s Speech in the Lower House, and Mr T. Hislop, the newly-elected member for Oamaru, will second it. In the Legislative Council, the Hon Robert Pharazyn, of Wanganui, and the Hon Joseph Shephard, ex-M.H.Ii. for Nelson, will he the mover and seconder of the Address iu-Keply. Both gentlemen have recently been chosen members of the Upper House.
