THE SOUDAN REBELLION.
ITALY TO OCCUPY SUAKIM. Losros, May 18. It ia reported that Italy will occupy Suakim. The niue-ponuder battery with which the Colonial Artillery were armed by the Home Government on their arrival at Su&kim. has teen presented te New South Wales by the War Office. May 18. Late information received from Khartoum states that the Mahdi is in great straits Suakim, May 17. The Australian Contingent embarked this morning, and were loudly cheered by the British troops assembled on shore. At a dinner on board the transport, Lord Wolseley, who was present, addressed the colonials. In the coarse of his speech te expressed surprise at the appearance of the men, which, he said, was most creditable for a force just off active service. He concluded by assuring them that they tarried with them the heartiest good wishes of himself and his staff on their homeward voyage. The transport with the Australian Contingent aboard will sail tomorrow.
