War Rumors.

While there seems likolj to be a war between Great Britain and Russia about the Afghanistan frontier business aid the attack on the Ameer’s forces by the Bussian army under General Komarofl. it is satisfactory to note that the fighting in the Soudan may possibly soon come to an end. Becent cable messages state that the Mahdi’s forces have been destroyed by the attack made by some of his late discontented and rebellious followers. If this news should prove true— aud its probability is somewhat supported by another cable message which states tint Sir Gerald Graham has called upon the Wahdi’s forces to surrender—then the end of the Soudan campaign may be near at band. Great Britain has a good deal on its handsjust now, between the Soudan war and the threatened outbreak of war with Russia. Then there is trouble iu North West Canada/ The Indian half-breds have broken out into revolt in that country, and the American Indians are joining them. This insurrection appears to be a very grave affair, and a number of white people have been massacred at outlying stations. The Canadian Government have despatched 7000 troops to the scene of hostilities.
