Masterton. Thursday. (Before H. S. Wardcll, Esq., E.M., and C A. Vallance, Esq., J.P.) Bamsay v Morrison.—Detinue, £2l. Mr Beard for plaintiff and Mr Stedman for defendant. Adjourned to next sitting. Hare v Hanila.—Debt £7 18s. Judgment confessed. Hare v Morrison.—Debt £lO IBs fid. Mr Beard for plaintiff, Mr Stedman for defendant. £3 11s was paid into Conrt, but not accepted. The claim was for grazing certain horses. After a long hearing judgment was given for plaintiff for amount paid in, each party to pay hie own costs. Mitchell vJ. Kcllehcr. —Debt £7 7s 4d. Paid into court. Constable McKenzie v T. Cordieux Breach of Traffic on Highways Act, by leaving a trap in the ditch, thereby causing danger to traffic. Fined 50s and costs. McKenzie v Bacon.—Drunkenness, &c. Fined 20s and costs. McKenzie v Bacon.—lndecent exposure. This was rnther a bad case. Prisoner sentenced to 50 hours’ imprisonment. McKenzie v Gillies.—Drunkenness. Fined 20s.
Cahxebton, Fbidat (Bcforo H. S. Wardell, Esq., R.M., and C. A. Yallance, Esq, J.P.) Edmondson & Co v Buchanan Bros, — Claim £2B 5s 3d. Mr Bectbam for plaintiffs, Mr Beard for defendants. Judgment for amount and costs. Thomas Sparks v Phillip J. Murtagh.— Assault. This case arose out of a quarrel between complainant and defendant at the Carterton Town Hall. The hearing of the case occupied the court for three or four hours, resulting in defendant being fined 40s and costs, 40s 6d. Mr Stedman appeared for defendent. William Parker v P. J. Murtagh.—Breach of Vagrant Act. As this case arose out of the previous one, the complainant desired to withdraw. Withdrawn. Constable Ryrnv Murtagh.—Assault upon C. Hay. This case occupied the Court until very late in the evening and resulted in the defendant being dismissed, as the court was of opinion that the evidence was not sufficient to show whether the complainant or defendant was the aggressor. Mr Stedman appeared for defendant. When the case was about half through the defendant decided to conduct it for himself, and Mr Stedman retired. I). Haggerty v H. Giles.—Breach of Licensing Act.
