TE MAWHAI v. DAIRY FACTORY.

Playing on the Dairy Factory Club’s courts on Saturday afternoon, Te M'awhai Club’s representatives were narrowly defeated, Factory prevailing in the aggregate by twelve sets and 113 points to eleven sets and 102 points, alter a most enjoyable contest. Following are the scores, with Factory players named first in each instance: — Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs M. Tims lose to Mrs Earwaker o—6, Mrs A. Harvey lost to Mrs Brueton 5—6, Mrs Richards defeated Mrs Bruce 6—3, Miss Maclean lost to Miss Melville I—6, Mrs G. Morriss lost to Miss Oates 3— G, Mrs H. Giles lost to Miss Stewart 3—6.

Men’s Singles.—H. Lines lost to Thornes 3 —6, A. P. Harvey lost to Brueton 4 —6, G. Morriss defeated Simpson 6—2, E. Smart defeated Daniell 6 —2, E. Menary defeated Owens 6—4, J. Fleming defeated Oates 6—3.

Combined Doubles. —Lines and Mrs Tims lost to Thornes and Mrs Earwaker 5—6, Harvey and Mrs Harvey lost to Brueton and Mrs Brueton 5—6, Morriss and Mrs Richards defeated Simpson and Mrs Bruce 6—5, Smart and Miss Maclean lost to Daniell and Miss Melville 3—6, Menary and Mrs Morriss defeated Owens and Miss Oates 6—4, Fleming and Mrs Giles defeated Oates and Miss Stewart G—2.

TE AWAMUTU CLUB. The semi-finals and finals of the men’s doubles handicap and the final of the men’s singles, in connection with the Te Awamutu Tennis Club’s annual handicap tournament, were completed on Saturday afternoon. The semi-finals saw J. L. Jourdain and E. Griffin, rec. 8, defeat H. Renton and M. Blair, owe 5, by 40 points to 16, and in the final Hugh and Eric Miller, owe 30, defeated Jourdain and Griffin 40 —38. In the singles final S. M. Clarke, ewe 25, defeated E. Holmes, owe 15, by 40 points to 35.
