AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW
ST. JOHN’S HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A well attended meeting of the committee of St. John’s Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday evening, the president (Mr H. C. Rainey) presiding.
Mr A. J. Shepherd presented a statement of finances in connection with the spring show. Expenses accounted for £66 4s lOd, including £24 19s 6d as prize money, and £22 Is 6d for printing and advertising. There is a balance of £25 2s lOd, as compared with £23 7s Id at the beginning of the financial year.—The statement was adopted. The following stewards were appointed in connection with the autumnn show: Section A (chrysanthemums) : Messrs F. Mason and A. Todd; sections B and C (dahlias and .cut flowers): Mesdames D. McArthur and W. Jeffery and Miss Bockett; sections D and E (decorative and pot plants): Mrs W. Locke and helper; section F (home industries): Mesdames J. P. O’Sullivan and J. T. North; section G (needlework and art) : Mrs H. de L. Peake and helpers; section H (vegetables and fruit); Mr W. Shaw (Pirongia); section .1 (children’s classes) : Mr I. M. West and Misses B. Montefiore and L. Cruickshank; general stall; Mesdames C. G. Downes and R. Dawson and helpers; door and morning tea and judge’s steward; Mrs H. Y. Collins; Hall Preparation Committee: Mr J. G. B. Gifford (head); afternoon tea buffet committee: Mrs W. Mensforli and Miss Trevarthen. Various other matters in connection with the show were discussed.
