S.M. FAREWELLED
TRIBUTE FROM BAR. At the Te Kuiti S.M. Court on Tuesday, Mr E. M. Mackersey, for the Te Kuiti and Mr Trapski for the Otorohanga bar, expressed their regret to the Magistrate, Mr F. H. Levien, that this would be the last day he Avould preside over the local Bench, says the Chronicle.
Mr Mackersey said that although Mr Levien had only been on the local Bench for a short time, the relations between the Bench and Bar had always been most pleasant—"and your decisions have been such," he continued, "that although both parties may have not been altogether satisfied with them, the unsuccessful one has always blamed his solicitor rather than the Magistrate." Mr Trapski then spoke for the Otorohanga solicitors. In his reply Mr Levien said he had enjoyed the circuit. He had certainly no complaint to make with the local bar—his relations with them were most pleasureable, and he hoped that Mr J. H. Luxford, who would succeed "aim, would have the same experience.
