ARAPUNI POWER
TWO ADDITIONAL GENERATORS,
FoDow'ng the recently announced decision of the Public Works Department to instal two new turbo-genera-tors at the hydro-electric station at A’-apuni, to meet the growing needs of the service it is now stated that it is likely to be nearly two years before the new units are operating. They w'll each be of 24,000 k.v.ta, capacity, and wil 1 ) thus be the largest of their lend in the Dom-'nion. These generators will ibring the total strength of generators at A rap uni to six, and the power-house will have to be enlarged to accommodate them. As, accord ng to a recent statement by a high official of the Department, it is intended to ultimately have eight generators at Arapuni, giving a to'Hi 1 ; output of 140.000 kilowatts, compared with the present 70,000, the enlargement of the power house to be put in hand practically at once will almost certainly be sufficient to house the full quota.
