CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE

Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having held their usual Cambridge sale on Monday. There was a medium yarding all round which met with good competition. Good fat cows ±"5 10s, medium ditto 36s to £2. good store cows £1 to 30s, boners 5s to 15s, good quality Jersey heifers £5 10s to £6 10s, med.uim sorts £4 10s to £5, inferior and backward sorts £2 10s, others £2 to £3 10s, large store pigs 30s to 355, medium ditto 25s to 30s, small ditto 18s to 225, weaners 8s to 12s.

New Zealand Loan and Mercant' le Agency Company, Limited ( Hamilton, report on their Taupiri pig sale held on Monday as follows:—A good yarding of stores and weaners met with spirited competition and values obtained were easily up to Frs/nkton quotations. A small yarding of porkers also drew keen competifon, and were firm at late rates. Several pens of sows and litters were in demand, and satisfactory prices were obtained. , We quote: Ligiht baconers and heavy porkers £2 5s to £2 17s, medium l porkers £1 15s to £1 17s, light porkers £1 5s to £1 10s, good stores'£l to £1 ss, medium stores 17s to 19s 6d, slips 11s to 16s Gd, Weaners 6s to 10s 6d, good sows and litters £4 15s to £5 10s, others £3 15s to £4 10s.

HAMILTON STOCK SALE

The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday there was an extra heavy yarding of fat wethers, competition for prime quality being equal to last sale. The demand eased a little on lighter sorts. Fat ewes came forward in smaller numbers and sold under keen competition at advanced rates. The yarding of fat hoggets was a good one, and prices were inclined to firm on those ruling at last sale. Ox beef: On the whole the yarding was a smaller one, there being few well finished cattle. In this section all classes remained unchanged. A full yarding of cow and heifer beef came forward, the majority being good quality with heavy cattle showing an easing tendency, lighter showing no change in value. Prime fat cows from Mr H. S. Barrett, of Koramatu, sold .from £5 15s to £7 2s 6d. Pigs: An increased number of fat pigs were penned with a better proportion of good quality. Butter milk buyers were in attendance, and pigs suitable for their purpose showed an improvement in values. A smaller yarding of stores and weaners sold at prices in advance of last week’s quotations. Quotations: —Sheep: Heavy prime wethers 28s 3d to 30s, medium prime 26s to 27s 3d, light 24s to 25s 6d, prime ewes 17s, medium fat hoggets 18s to 20s. Cattle: Medium fat steers £7 6s to £7 15s, lighter £6 to £6 10s. runners £3 to £3 10s, heavy fat cows £6 10s to £7 2s 6d, medium fat cows and heifers £5 5s to £5 15s, lighter £3 10s to £4 ss, killable cows £2 5s to £3, fresh conditioned cows 35s to £2 2s. stores 22s 6d to 30s, boner cows 11s to 21s. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their weekly Frankton stock sale, held on Tuesday, as follows: Sheep: An exceptionally heavy yarding of grown fat sheep consisted principally of medium quality wethers —prime wethers and fat ewes being scarce, and this resulted in a slight improvement, if anything, above the good prices secured last week for these latter classes. The large number of mediocre quality wethers had a slight adverse reflection in prices, though practically everything sold. There were no prime lambs yarded, but competition was good and prices were firm. Again a pen of prime wethers on account of Mr H. Cornfoot, of Kio Kio realised £1 13s 6G. We quote: Prime heavy wethers 23s to 31s Gd, prime 26s to 27s 6d. medium quality 24s to 265, light to 235, prime heavy ewes 23s to 2Gs, good quality 21s to 235, plain 16s to 20s, medium fat lambs 21s to 23s 9d, plain 16s to 20s.

Cattle: The quality of the ox oeef entered generally was light, bur. prices ranged round values 23s to 24s per 100 lbs, and in a few instances were slightly above last week’s quotations. There was no appreciable alteration in prime fat cow prices, but plain quality, which comprised the greater part of the yarding, depreciated a shade. There is no variation to report as regards store cattle, average numbers of which made usual rates. We quote: Medium fat bullocks £6 to £7 10s, lighter £5 to £6, good quality fat cows and heifers £5 15s to £7, medium quality £4 10s to £5 10s, lighter £3 to £4 ss, unfinished £2 5s to £3; quality store cows 25s to 30s, inferior do 10s to 20s.

Pigs: A medium yarding of fat and store pigs were penned. Fat pigs, especially heavy baconers, showed an easing tendency on recent sales, while stores and weaners showed an improvement. We quote: Heavy bacon ers £3 to £3 7s, medium £2 10s to £2 16s, light baconers and heavy porkers 34s to £2 4s, porkers 26s to 30s, good stores 20s to 265, others 16s to 18s. slips 13s to 15s„ weaners 10s to 14s 6d.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, as under: Fat sheep: A fairly large yarding. With the exception of a few pens which sold at late rates the demand was less keen and genei’ally prices were below last week’s rates. Extra heavy prime wethers sold at 28s to 31s 6d, inferior weight wethers 26s 6d to 27s 9d, extra good young ewes sold at up to 26s for prime heavy, medium weight and light ewes 36s 6d to 19s 9d. Shorthorn heifers at up to £5 15s, Jerseys cows £2 10s to £3 5s 9d, aged and inferior 30s to 40s. Fat pigs: A small yarding of fat pigs met with keen competition, and prices were firm at late rates. Prime heavy baconers £2 19s to £3 2s, medium £2 13s to £2 16s, light £2 10s to £2 12s, other quality £2 ss. Prime heavy porkers £2 2s to £2 ss, medium 39s to £2 Is, light 31s, other light porkers 25s to 28s. Store pigs: A fair yarding of store pigs were in good demand and prices showed a rising tendency, especially for large stores. Good large stores 25s to 275, medium 21s to 245, smaller 17s to 19s; good quality slips 16s, medium 14s to 15s, small 12s 6d.

Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report having held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mir J. E. Wbrth. at Putaruru on Monday, as under: — There was a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Waikato, and under keen competition a total clearance was effected at the following pi-ices:—Bay draught gelding, ag - ed £4O, brown geldng £3l, light harness gelding £24 10s, aged hack £l3 10s.
