PIRONGIA BRANCH

(Own Correspondent.) The Pirongia Women's Institute held its monthly meeting on Wednesday of last week, Mrs Berry presiding. There was a fair attendance. After the usual business had been transacted the quilt r , made from handknitted squares by members were given to three of the most needy families in the district. The competition " Hand-made Article Costing Not More Than Is," was v£ry popular. Mrs Z. Kerr's entry (a nightdress sachet) was adjudged to be the prettiest article, while Mr £ W. H. Bell won the prize for the most useful (a wool-carrying basket). Good work was done at the bring-and-buy stall. The hostesses were Mesdames Allport and Kerr.
