REF,USES AN INCREASE OF SALARY.

Marshal Pilsudski, the Dictator of Poland, though he ranks only as Minister of Wiar and Commander-in-Chief of the Arm'yj has refused to accept the increase in pay to which he was entitled by the new Act of the Polish Parliament. Further, he has vetoed the putting into force of the Act which increased the pay of the superior officers of the army without making provision for improving the lot of the lower ranks. He has stated that the army relies for its efficiency on the every-day work of the lower ranks, and that it is gross injustice to increase the paly of the higher officers at the expense of the lower ranks.

At the present time the marshal lives on his pay as a marshal, 3000 zlotys a month, and hands his other emoluments as Minister of War to the orphanages and charities in Which his wife is interested.
