Reporting to the Waipa County Council on Monday, the traffic inspector (Mr R. Metcalfe) stated that for p<art of the month he had been without the use fit the loadometers, and thus was hampered in dealing with suspected breaches of overloading regulations. Only one case of overloading was detected, and twlo for exceeding the mlaxiimum lead limit over the Puniu Bridge. Further breaches were two speeding lorries and one case of dangerous d! iving. One owner of a Sorry carrying a gross load of over 2 tons was instructed to take out a heavy traffic license, and he has done so. He had prosecuted on nine charges, with fines totalling £l6 10s. His car mileage for the month was 2240.
