SCOW GOES ASHORE

VESSEL LATER REFLOATED. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) OPOTIKI, Friday. The auxiliary scow Otimai, in convmand of Captain Gash, endeavoured tio work the Opotiki bar last n'ght, but owing to the channel being too narrow, the vessel stranded on the western spit. This morning attempts were made to haul.the Otimai off with kedge anchors. The effort was partly successful, the boat being moved about 80 feet. A further attempt was made tonight at high tide and the vessel was refloated. She berthed at 8.30 p.m. The vessel and cargo were not damaged.
